Die Fallhöhe des schleichenden Niedergangs eines vormals ikonischen Filmstudios des »Golden Age of Hollywood«, dessen Marke qua Definition eine glanzvolle Aura von Qualität, Größe und Spitzenklasse suggeriert, steht im übertragenen Sinne Pate für meine gleichnamige Komposition. Inspiriert von Topoi des klassischen »film scores« verzahne ich in PARAMOUNT musikalische Bruchstücke auf der pseudo-historischen Folie eines »Klavierkonzerts« zur unwuchtigen Ensemble-Maschinerie, in der jede*r Musiker*in als metaphorisches »Zahnrad im Getriebe« abwechselnd immer wieder hinter das große Ganze zurück- und heraustritt.

The fall of a formerly iconic film studio of the »Golden Age of Hollywood«, whose brand by definition suggests a glamorous aura of quality, greatness and excellence, is the figurative inspiration for my composition of the same name. Inspired by the topoi of the classical »film score«, in PARAMOUNT I interlock musical fragments on the pseudo-historical foil of a »piano concerto« to form an unbalanced ensemble machinery in which each musician alternately steps back and forth behind the big picture as a metaphorical »cog in the wheel«.
